If you need to change a tire, you’ll want to follow these steps to learn how to use a car jack:

• The first step in learning how to use a jack for a car is to park the vehicle securely on level pavement. For safety reasons, you should never use a car jack on dirt or grass. 
• Next, place wheel wedges, wooden blocks, or bricks behind whichever tires will remain sitting on the ground.
• Put the car in “Park” and engage the emergency brake. If you drive a manual in Beatrice, put the car in first gear while engaging the parking brake.
• Next, you’ll want to review the owner’s manual to determine where to place the jack stand under the car. If you’re lifting only one wheel, you only need to elevate one corner of the vehicle.
